ALAPPUZHA: VENICE OF THE EAST
Alappuzha, or Alleppey, is a city on the Laccadive sea in the Indian state of Kerala. Aleppey is also known as the Venice of the east due to the Kerala backwaters, a network of tranquil canals and lagoons. Famous for its rustic houseboat cruises, Aleppey is everything a water lover might want. It's also home to ancient sites like the Alappuzha Lighthouse, built in the 19th century.
Aleppey is also a great place to visit for some relaxation from work, to let go of your stress. Glistening sands, beautiful waves and an enchanting sunrise on the beach makes Alappuzha fascinating. The Kerala backwaters, once used for fishing and agriculture have long since become a tourist attraction. It's common to see boat-houses on the river, where people live. The Marari beach in Alappuzha has a wide coastline, mking it a go to place for families who want to chill out. Alappuzha has also islands near it in the Laccadive sea, which can be visited by hiring a boat. To enjoy Alappuzha to the fullest, spend your stay there in a boat-house, sailing across the serene water of the backwater, with the stars as your companions.
